5 Key Things to Optimize Your Chances of Conceiving
If you’re in the midst of your TTC (trying to conceive) journey, there are 5 key things I suggest you start with to optimize your chances of conceiving:
1. Track your cycle to learn more about your body and your health. Knowing where you are in your cycle and what is happening in your body is the first step to getting pregnant. It allows you to time intercourse to optimize your chance of pregnancy and notice any red flags that may be appearing in your health.
2. Do your labs: This includes blood-work to test nutrients, hormones, and thyroid levels. Make sure your provider knows how to correctly time collection of your blood to optimize the information you are getting from the tests.
3. Experiment with ovulation predictor kits (OPKs): Ovulation tests can help you identify when your most fertile days are. These tests have their benefits but also their limitations. So give them a try but be sure to notice your other ovulatory signs as well like cervical mucous (quality and quantity) and the rise in your basal body temperature after ovulation.
.4. Start taking a high-quality prenatal vitamins right away. Quality matters when it comes to your prenatal health.
5. Focus on nutrition and gut health: eat the rainbow of fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants in these foods will support fertility in so many ways!
